Goodness Without Love = Nothing

Many times we look at ourselves, our deeds, our great spiritual feats; and believe we have arrived at some great place in God while God is looking back at us and seeing nothing. When God surveys a man’s life he looks not at the outer man or the deeds he’s accomplished. God looks on the heart, and His surveying of the heart of man He is looking for one thing. That one thing is Love. Many Christians are totally missing the one thing God is looking for and don’t even realize it because we believe our goodness is enough.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

I’ve come to understand loving others isn’t as natural or easy to come as we’d hope. Even as believers we must continually purpose in our hearts to practice love. We are prone, as the passage of scripture points out, to spiritualism without actually operating in love. We are capable of  being able to speak of heavenly things, prophesy, have great understanding and faith. We are even oftentimes driven to do good deeds, but somehow without actually walking in the God-kind of love, which in the Bible is termed Agape. It is hard to conceive, but a man who does all these great things “for God” could possibly be seen by God as a worker of iniquity, and in the day of judgment come to know that God didn’t know him being asked to depart from the very presence of the Lord’s face. That would be a great travesty. In order to assist us in our love walk we will delve further into how we can identify and operate in this Agape.  This way our goodness will flow from our goodness and He will identify us as His own.

I hope to be able to share with you soon.

Be Strengthened * Be Encouraged * Be Blessed!

Much Love, Dawn
