Seed

Every seed is small in comparison to the fruit it bears

My daughters and I were having a tea party this morning with strawberries instead of biscuits. As we were enjoying our tea my oldest daughter asked me ‘how do they grow these big strawberries out of such small seeds?’ My mind went through the thoughts of the fact that God grew the strawberries; and that it was the law of sewing and reaping. My reply to her was ‘Every seed is small in comparison to the fruit it bears’. My mind continued on to with the fact that the scripture which talks about 30/60/100 fold has to be referring to exponential growth rather than percentages or even multiplication. I think of the grape vine which comes forth from a singular seed and it produces not only fruit but seed upon seed upon exponentially multiplied seed continually so as long as it is cared for. It takes me back to a thought from the other day as I was cutting a cucumber from my garden. I as I cut open that cucumber I was reminded of the law of first fruit. If a farmer were to take the first fruit of every harvest and use those seeds for the next harvest he would never be without seed and thus continually have harvest.

The scripture goes on to state a promise of reaping if you are consistent and not quit stating ‘and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not’ Gal 6:9 (KJV).  Each seed has within it exponential growth for as long as the cycle is kept up.

This thought leads me on the path of thinking about all of the types of seeds I’ve sewn in each of the areas of my life. The bible says ‘be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap’ Gal 6:7 (KJV).   In context it is referring to doing well for other people as we are given opportunity, but the scripture says ‘whatsoever’ so it applies to everything seed we plant.

Seed can be many different things and can be both positive and negative seed sewn. It does not matter which you plant; you will see the fruit of it and that fruit will be much larger than the seed sewn.
